Oh! Food of the Gods
You are an oblation
To humanity
For you satiate
Both the living and dead

Your immeasurable capacity
To produce thousands of grains
From a single grain
Elucidates the depth of your compassion
Which is deeper than the ocean
And firmer than the earth

Oh! Munificent rice
You reign supreme at all times
For your presence is conspicuous
At majestic and murky occasions
This propitious attribute

As a youth
One strikes a balance
Between personal and professional life
At this stage
One is clouded with the question of marriage
Yet brimming with hope
One advances in life
And ties the knot

At middle age
One struggles to raise the family
And is disrupted by the question
Of insecurity at old age
Yet brimming with hope
One advances in life

At old age
One thinks of the bitter
Truth of life—death
And dreads it
Yet brimming with hope
To be reborn as a human again
One embraces death.

Cowardice Life

Clouds of barbarism hover over them
Piloting their lives on fallacy
They have taken
On the flight of terrorism
Cuddling ignobility
Loosing the sight of humanity

They failed to fathom their mission
For being born as a human
Instead their existence
Is delineated
With stains of blood
What pitiful life! What cowardice life!

Undiluted Love

Oh Friend, I bow at your loyalty
Oblivious of the fame and status
You shower earnest and unconditional love
With a meager desire
To be patted and ruffled in anticipation

Yet patiently you listen to my woe
Sitting beside me
Your altruistic nature is adorable

You are capricious
Yet I share a strange bond with you
You are volatile

My meticulous crush on you

The crash of your tides
Has the potential
To swing both ways
Bringing fortune or misfortune!

You are the fulcrum of investors
Your perilous tides
Make the market bullish
And at times you nosedive
For correction
To make it bearish!

You are the stethoscope of the market
For you read the pulse
Of foreign investors

Hinges investors sound wealth!

Fragmenting Education

Oh! What a noble vision they possess
A vision to provide education
And to accomplish this noble mission
They plan to introduce reservation!

On one hand they tart up to be egalitarian
On the other they come up with reservation
Compelling the youth to go on agitation!
But youth, that’s not the way to seek a solution

Catastrophic Anger

Yet again I emerged victorious
Over my enemy
A parasitic enemy residing within me
Trying to annihilate my indestructible core
And cast a shadow over
My goodness!

Ah! Evil anger
You try hard to entice me
By making my environment
A bloody hell

Dear Anger,
I admire your audacity
To confront with me time and again

Change of Guard

Unwaveringly I wandered on my future
As many of my married comrades felt forlorn
And few were back to their paternal home
I wondered if mine would be one

Being on the cusp of marriage scared me
I prayed fervently to exorcise my fear
My fear became very dear
Soon my fear took a topsy-turvy
And transformed into conviction
A conviction to lead a blissful married life

With this conviction
I developed the heart of a lion
And fearlessly decided to forge the bond of marriage

Father, the Indian Army titled you as a true solider
Then, to me you were mere father
You bravely resisted the bullets fired by the society
For being supportive off me
And giving me the liberty to fulfill my aspirations
Your support
Has compelled me to call you a brave soldier!

Father! Soon your dream would be realised
Of seeing me as a bride
The change of guard would be smooth
The person may not be a soldier
But surefire to walk shoulder to shoulder

I sat on your lap as a toddler

Our Elixir

Oh mother! Our elixir
Our very source of existence
How dynamically you sustain us!
You possess
Unparallel humility, magnanimity and compassion!!

You! The mother of this realm
Dispassionately made us, the microorganism
Of this world
Wear the crown of kings and queens of this realm!!
Making each moment of our life
Larger than you!

Despite our burden on you
Begrudgingly you revivify our existence
Acting as a tutelary
Protecting us day and night!

To ensconce our stay on this realm
You provided us with flora and fauna
Which is a sight for sore eyes!!
And made us conversant with
Autumn, winter, summer & spring

Oh mother!! I feel excruciatingly sad for humanity
For our dastardly behaviour towards you
Instead of paying humble obeisance to you
We have been steadfast in inflicting pain to you

Marinated in greed and foolishness
We are committed in turning mills to malls
Trees to buildings
And proudly say we are in the globalised world!!

Oh mother Earth!!
Your compassion is incredible!
Humans become humane
We are indebted to her!!

Realise we don’t own this earth
It’s loaned to us by our children
Hence, let’s pay respect to
Our mother Earth
By replenishing it’s beauty
At least for posterity!!

NEW CLEAR WORLD

As human existence is like dew on the grass
The pungent desire for peace is the battle cry
Valiantly we would march ahead
Caressing the breeze of unity and propinquity
To make this world a better place in the 21st century!

Oh! Have mercy
In the name of democracy
Let’s not pillage the pulchritude
Of our existence in this world
By saying we are in the nuclear world!

By bathing in the rain of compassion
We would sing a peaceful symphony
